Three Sleep Meditation Techniques To Fall Asleep fast

In my last article on sleep meditation, I explained why it is always a good idea to learn a self-directed process you can count on -- even if you typically prefer a guided audio meditation to put you to sleep.  In this post I want to share the three best meditation techniques I know for falling asleep.

All of these sleep meditation techniques focus your mind on something that is interesting enough to hold your attention, and tiresome enough for your conscious mind to switch off. I would suggest trying each of them and seeing which one works best for you.

1. Silva Mind Control Meditation For Sleep

My first dive into mindpower techniques was with the Silva Method. At the time I suffered terribly from insomnia. This technique saved my life.

  1. Lying with your eyes closed, relax in a comfortable sleeping position.
  2. Imagine yourself in front of a large whiteboard or chalkboard with a marker in one hand and eraser in the other.
  3. See yourself draw a large circle on the whiteboard and inside the circle, draw a large X.
  4. Erase the X being careful not to erase the outline of the circle.
  5. Write the word “deeper” outside the circle and tell yourself that every time you write the word deeper you are falling deeper into healthy sleep.
  6. See yourself write the number 100 inside the circle. Erase it carefully, keeping the circle intact. Then see yourself going over the word deeper with your marker.
  7. Write the number 99 inside the circle. Erase it carefully, keeping the circle intact. Then go over the word deeper with your marker.

8. Continue with the numbers 98, 97, 96 and so on until you fall into a deep sleep.

Most people find that after using this technique a few times, their brain gets conditioned and it puts them right to sleep. Initially it may take a while for your monkey mind to realize that you are serious. It may not cooperate with you at first-- especially if you are accustomed to tossing and turning.

The key to this and all the other sleep meditation techniques here is to stick with it. The second you realize that your mind is distracted or that you are not practicing the method, you go back to it. You can start where you left off or go back to the beginning. It doesn't matter just get back to the technique.

2. color Visualization Sleep Technique for Balancing Your Chakras

3.    Gratitude Sleep Meditation Technique

The beauty of this meditation for sleep technique is that it also helps instill an abundance mindset:

  1. Prepare yourself for sleep meditation as described above
  2. Begin with the first letter of the alphabet and find at least three people or things you are grateful for that begin with that letter.
  3. Go to the second letter and find at least three people or things you are grateful for that begin with that letter
  4. Continue with the next letter and the next  until you fall asleep

The next night you can start at the first letter again or the last letter you remembered before you fell asleep.

Sleep deprivation is detrimental to your physical, mental and emotional well-being. Because it makes people irritable and grouchy, it can cause problems in your relationships as well. By learning sleep meditation, you reduce the likelihood of chronic illnesses, including diabetes and heart disease. You will also lower stress levels and enjoy a clearer, more focused mind.  In other words, just try it. It will be good for you. Let me know how it goes and which ones work best for you.
